Natural antioxidants present in high concentration
in olives continue to capture the interest of medical science. There
is a growing body of evidence revealing the unique antioxidant activity
of a family of compounds, polyphenols, against oxygen-derived free
radicals in pathological processes. It is now clear that the health
benefits of extra virgin olive oil in the promotion of healthy breast
tissue, colon function, cardiovascular function and other health
states associated with oxidative stress can be attributed to the
strong antioxidant activity of polyphenols. These antioxidants may
also help maintain overall health and wellness through their anti-bacterial
and anti-viral activity.
Although polyphenols are present in the extracted
olive oil, the water of the olives contains even higher concentrations
of these polyphenols. While high quality, extra virgin olive oils
may contain between 100 and 300 micrograms of polyphenols per liter
of oil, the concentration of these same polyphenols is 300 to 500
times higher in olive water.

TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES SOLUTIONS
CreAgri has been instrumental in the development
of the newest, most advanced technology to redefine processes and
practices in the olive industry. The company has developed a proprietary
two-step process to utilize olive water rich in antioxidant polyphenols.
First, the pits are removed from the pulp of the olives (Integrale
Style), and then the polyphenolic-rich water is separated from the
oil and processed to avoid air oxidation and to release the highest
quantity of antioxidant activity. Olive water from the olive oil
milling thus becomes an economical and yet unused source of natural
antioxidant polyphenols (including Hydroxytyrosol [HIDROX]).
To create OLIVENOL, only the water from the pulp of the finest
organic olives is used. OLIVENOL provides the powerful antioxidants
found in extra virgin olive oil in the highest purity and concentration.
CreAgri's olive water is very versatile and can be
formulated not only into tablets for dietary supplements, but also
food, beverages, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. CreAgri
has been granted two patents for the process to recover Hydroxytyrosol
(the major component of Olivenol) from olive water. A third
patent is pending for the formation of HIDROX, CreAgris
trademarked name for Hydroxytyrosol. By developing commercially
